Cheese Party

Do you have a Christmas or New Year’s Party you are in charge of planning? A get together with friends or family coming up and you don’t know what to do? Turn our recent date into the ultimate Cheese Party.

Start by sending out the invites. My inspiration for the invites came from here, but I changed mine because we don’t drink. You can print out your Piece of Cheese Invite, fill in the info, punch a few holes in it to make it look like Swiss cheese, and send it out. {Side note: I made it in color to print on white paper, or black and white to print on orange paper – depending on your preference.}

Set-up a table ahead of time with everything your guests will need. Platters or boards for cheese, knives, plates, drinks, etc. Whatever you want, but don’t forget the pairings – crackers, bread, grapes, and pears! Don’t forget to have your flags with a pen so guests can label their cheese when they arrive.

It is so fun to see what kind of cheese everyone brings! We had a honey goat cheese, Brie, Gouda, Havarti, Cheddar, Parmesan/Swiss combo, and pepper jack. They were all delicious! My husband and I even got to enjoy picking out several cheeses a few days before in anticipation of the date night.

We had invited the other couples to wear “Cheesy Sweaters” (aka Ugly Sweaters) if they liked. Our friends are awesome and not only did we have ugly Cheesy sweaters, we had cheesy scarves, hats AND socks! It was hilarious and so so much fun. My husband and I had coordinating Cheesy Christmas Knee Socks we had found that came as a pair from Wal-Mart.

For some entertainment we had a trivia game of Jeopardeese! (Get it?!) Super cheesy, I know. :) My amazing friend, Michelle, has this wonderful talent of creating trivia games. She put together a fabulous game and we were laughing hysterically through it all. Each couple picked a kind of cheese as their team name and it was hilarious to hear everyone yelling out their kind of cheese when they knew the answer. Michelle was gracious enough to share it with all the Dating Diva readers! Just download the questions and answers, and then put it together on your own posterboard. It is sure to be a hit!

Some of the categories – Cheesy Movie Quotes, Meals that Can’t Live Without Cheese, and Cheese in the Name.

The winner of our Jeopardeese game won their own CHEESY Christmas socks!

Despite the busyness of the holiday season, it is important to set aside date night and time with your spouse. My husband and I were able to spend time together as we shopped for the cheese and prepared the food. We also obviously spent time together and with the other couples at the party. How do you ensure some quality time with your spouse during the busy holiday seasons?,
